Academic World school, Bemetara had a privilege to organize a workshop for students to learn about various skills and techniques of playing Basket Ball.It was truly an exhilarating moment as our students were rigorously trained on various valuable playing rules and skills by the renowned head coach of Basket Ball of International fame Mr. Kenneth Blake of U.S.A.He is reputed as world famous –basketball coach with academic operations in multiple 17 countries. He has also worked with NBA teams Washington wizards and Philadelphia. He has taken two day’s workshop in our school. On the first day session for hostellers around 200 hostel students were trained by Mr. Kenneth in three different sessions. 250 Students from class 6th to 9th along with their sports teachers also got the privilege to attend the workshop. His target was to achieve the objectives to acquaint the students with the idea to teach the skills, fundamental and techniques of Basket Ball. He also emphasized on better understanding of the skills on controlling the ball, dribbling, passing, shooting, offense, defence and match techniques. He answered many queries put forth by inquisitive students. Matches were also conducted so as to analyse the performance of students. He divided them into two teams and made them play. The students also played the matches with full enthusiasm and tried their level best to come up with the expectations of Mr. Kenneth Blake.
The students’performance and the zeal was appreciated beyond the expectations of the trainer Mr. Blake. Before the departure he addressed the students that they should focus on their goal to achieve it with full determination. It was well cooperated by the sports teacher Manpreet Kaur, Samarth Pratap Singh, Manish Singh and Bhanupratap Sahu.
School Chairperson, Bhawna Bohra and Principal, Bharat Bhusan Jha appreciated this workshop and looked forward to many more informative workshops of such kind. The workshop was highly rated by entire students. In true sense this sports training set a benchmark to nurture sportsmanship in students.
